Summers seem to fly even faster than the other months of the year. I can't believe Juliet is 14 months old already! I haven't done a great job at keeping exact track of when she's reached certain milestones, but I'm doing the best I can. I'm expecting this to get even worse once #2 arrives :) Here are the highlights I can think of:
- Juliet knows all the parts of the face (by 13 months). Her current favorite is eyes. She loves to point to the eyes on everyone, all her stuffed animals, pictures in books, etc.
- She loves to dance and "sing" songs. She doesn't really sing, but more loves it when you sing and she dances and claps. My family taught her skittle marinky dinky dink and she even does little hand motions (looks a bit like the chicken dance) and points to her eyes on cue :)
- Juliet can kick a ball across the floor and likes to say "kick, kick" as she does it.
- Juliet loves to point and identify EVERYTHING - juice, car, teeth, dog, mama, book, eye, etc, etc. She is constantly pointing at something and telling me what it is!
- We don't watch a lot of tv, but she does watch Elmo from time to time. If I think of it, I'll turn Sesame Street on in the morning, but she won't usually sit there for more than 5 minutes. In spite of that, she can identify all of the characters. She loves this little set of board books my mom got her that have pictures of all of them.
- Speaking of Sesame Street, Juliet makes the sound "Ah, Ah, Ah" for the Count ... get it? One, two, three! Ah, Ah, Ah!
- She loves stuffed animals and animals in general. It's been so hot but I desperately want to take her to the zoo because I think she'll really enjoy it. We went to the pet shop and checked out the birds, bunnies, and fish the other day and that was pretty fun (and air conditioned!). She makes sounds for cow and horse.
- Kisses are a big thing around our house. Juliet loves to kiss us, her animals, and pictures in her books. One day, she even made two of her stuffed animals kiss each other ... so stinkin' cute! She's gotten to where she wants to kiss every stuffed animal in her room when I am trying to put her down for naps/bedtime. She's quite the staller already :)
- It's amazing what kids pick up. Just the other morning, Juliet - who regularly likes to be in the bathroom while Dominic's getting ready for work - took his deodorant and (with cap on) swiped it toward his armpit. Then later that day as she was helping me switch the laundry over from the washer to the dryer, pointed to a pair of Dominic's boxers and said "da." She's also become quite interested in everything I do when I go to the bathroom. She wants to get some toilet paper and put it in the bowl, etc.
Here's some pictures from the last couple months. The first album is from our trip up to Nebraska and South Dakota the week of the 4th of July. We had a great time hanging out with family and Juliet really enjoyed seeing her cousins and all the extended family. I think it will be even more fun next time now that she's walking. Her immobility was holding her back a little! She started walking the day we got home so she was soooo close, but not quite there!
The second album are just some other random pictures from the last couple months. I haven't taken very many because she wants the camera the moment she sees it!
She is too cute!
ReplyDeleteLaura Kate had so much fun playing with Juliet... we'll have to do it again soon! Maybe we can even tackle the zoo when it cools down a bit. :)
