birthday parties

Party. Party. Party. That's exactly what we did to celebrate Juliet's first birthday on the 13th of June! We ended up having a couple parties for Juliet to celebrate her birthday. The actual day of her birthday we were at the lake with Dominic's work crew. We had a great time playing outside, swimming in the lake, watching Juliet enjoy/devour her first cupcake all to herself, and just plain chillin' in the hot Oklahoma sun. While I had initially intended to have a party with my family when we got back into town that Sunday (the 14th), we were all just too exhausted so I postponed her family party till the next weekend. Good thing I didn't send out invitations to a bunch of people :)

So, my family came over this past Sunday for her party complete with Elmo cake decorated by mom. Sweet Elmo took about 2 back breaking hours to ice, but she was excited about it so that made it worth it! Fun presents she got include a wagon, Elmo videos, and a riding toy.

So, those were her official parties, but then we had her one year photos with Lacey at A Cherry On Top Photography last night and that ended up being a celebration all its own. At least Juliet had a party. Biggest lesson we learned: Don't stand between Juliet and her cake :) Lacey said she'd never seen a baby go after a cake quite like Juliet did ... that's my girl!!! And I was worried she wasn't going to take after me! Ha :) She was covered with icing from head to toe - we had to put her in the bathtub at Lacey's house!
