As one successful businessman said to a small group at lunch one day, "I feel like I'm a river. No matter how much I give, I never have less; no matter how much I receive, I never have any more." What he receives, he releases into the purposes of God. That does not mean that this individual could not have had a nicer car, a more expensive suit or a bigger house ... It simply means he is not controlled by what God has entrusted to him and what he has received. He is continually releasing what God gives him, and he has become a conduit and expression of God's love.
I really really love that quote. I picture in my head a man standing in the middle of a river, water rushing past him, arms stretched open toward the heavens. Thankful and full of praise. Positioned to have a huge impact. A continual blessing.
I want a heart like that. Praying for a generous and grateful heart today.
Our church recently had a message series called Multiply and Robert Morris was a guest speaker. He is a great story teller and talks a lot about the same things he does in his book. You can watch the message series online here.
