FOREVER. Say it slow and enunciate every syllable.
Makes me think of Sandlot.
Great movie.
B spit up all over the floor this morning. First time it's happened in a while. There I was standing with her on my hip, staring at a nice puddle on the floor, scanning the room for a burp rag or towel or something, with Charlie staring at me. He was waiting. He thinks cleaning up spit up is one of his big brother responsibilities. Yuck. I know. I must have been in this exact scenario at least 100 times.
After getting it all cleaned up I got to thinking. In the midst of the reflux madness, it seemed like I would be on my hands and knees cleaning up spit up FOREVER ... or at least a long time (when diagnosed with reflux, the pediatrician said most babies grow out of it by one year old). Looking back, it started around 5 months and was pretty much gone - with the occasional spew - by 8 months. That's only 3 months. Really?!? Sure did seem like longer than that.
Seems like with babies and toddlers at every phase there's that something that seems like it's going to last FOREVER. That has you irritated, feeling like a broken record, your patience exhausted, your eyes tired.
Some perspective. There are some things that do last forever, but most of my somethings - both mom related stuff and just regular life stuff - don't. They don't even last that long.
Newest J something. The "why" phase has started. Bring it.
Yay, that "why" phase...going to be a bit longer than 3 months. :)
ReplyDeleteHa! I am being forced to come up with explanations for things I'd never dreamed of explaining!
